A Review on the Recycling Technologies of Fibre-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Materials Used in Industrial Fields

Fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) materials are attracting growing interest because of their high specific mechanical properties. These characteristics, in addition to a level tailorability and design freedom, make them attractive for marine, aerospace, automotive, sports energy applications. However, the large use this class material dramatically increases amount waste that derives from end-of-life products offcuts generated during manufacturing processes. In context, especially when thermosetting matrices considered, need deeply study recycling process FRPs is an open topic both academic industrial research. This review aims present current state art most affirmed technologies used polymeric composites commonly applications, such as carbon glass FRPs. Each method (i.e., chemical, thermal mechanical) was analysed terms technological solutions parameters required matrix dissolution fibre recovery, showing advantages, drawbacks, applications properties recycled composites.
